Beautiful Design + Easy Navigation + Device Compatibility

Websites not only need to look good, but they need to function well and be easy to follow and understand. They need to be viewable on all mobile phones and tablets and accessible at the touch of potential customers’ fingertips. Take a look at my work, read up on my faq’s, and hopefully we can team up and get your business where it needs to be.

Small Business Focus

Beautifully designed websites at a fraction of the cost that a big design firm will charge you. You’re a start-up, you’re family owned and run, you’re a one-man shop like me. You need a website but you don’t want to go into debt to get one.

A Business Necessity

Every business needs a web presence, even if it’s just for sharing basic information. Nowadays so many people look to buy products or compare services online, whether at home or on their mobile phone or tablet.

Logo Design

In need of a logo? I can help with that too! Your logo is the first thing people will see when they learn about your business. It needs to be visually appealing, make sense for the business type, and not look like clip art (sorry clip art fans).

“Your website doesn’t need to cost thousands of dollars, it just needs to look like it does.”

Answer My Q's

What My Clients Have To Say

Working with Leslie to build several WordPress sites has been more than a pleasure. She is talented, capable, willing and flexible ― all of the qualities you want in a website designer. Leslie creates sites that are user-friendly, visually pleasing and also ones that can easily be managed and updated by the operator. I so enjoyed working with Leslie, she is the one I direct friends and associates to use when they are in need of a new website.

Leslie is a pleasure to work with. She is incredibly creative and talented. Her logo design exceeded my expectations and look forward to working with her on future projects.

Nailed my website without even meeting us! I refer a girl and her mac to everyone needing a good website! Leslie rocks!

Thank goodness for Leslie @ A Girl And Her Mac. I am a small business owner, that loves working with other small business owners. My website had been idle for almost a year and a half. I was getting desperate to find someone accountable, creative, affordable and efficient. Leslie is super on top of her work and really helps “move you along” to get the results needed. I was impressed by how eager she was to complete and exceed expectations set for the website. She does most of her work through email and phone calls beforehand, which is super convenient for any busy business owner!  After all that was said and done, Leslie assured me of her knowledge for the industry and I even moved over my hosting responsibilities to her. Thank you Leslie for your work, my clients are already raving about how easy it is to make an appointment online now!

A Girl and her Mac is a dream come true! Leslie built our site from the ground up. Our website is a cornerstone to our successful business. Leslie is very accommodating and a dream to work with! Leslie has been attentive to our every need, and there’ve been many, from day one. She continues to keep our business website up, secure and profitable 24/7. Leslie takes care of everything so I can focus on the business.

Let me begin by saying that I’m a big fan of A Girl and Her Mac! I would highly recommend A Girl and Her Mac to anyone that is looking for a website!

Leslie Bernal came highly recommended for the design our summer youth wildlife camp and she exceeded my expectations! Not only did Leslie create a visually appealing and highly functional website, she was a pleasure to work with. She promptly responded to all of my questions and continues assist as needed. We have received positive feedback for the website and are confident that it will increase the interest in our camp – exactly what we needed!

FAQ’s and other need-to-knows…

If you have questions or concerns that I haven’t touched on here please contact me!

About me.

Let me be upfront here, I do not claim to be a super-guru developer. What I do claim to be is a great D E S I G N E R. My background is in Fine Art and Print Design, which means I was trained in foundations and principles primarily pertaining to composition, space, balance, proportion, and the like. I have a good eye for layout and typography, I care about “the grid”, and I have good taste (which is more important than you might think!). I have a BFA in Graphic Design and I have taught myself a **ton** on my own time to improve my skills. That background partnered with my coding experience is why I can absolutely get you a sleek, well-functioning website so that your business can be on par with others in it’s category.

What does a website cost?

Of course price varies based on every clients’ needs, but I can tell you it will range from $650 to $2000. My prices are honestly quite low compared to other freelancers and firms, I urge you to check around and find out for yourself.

I offer payment plans, and I do pro bono work on occasion for non-profits whose causes I believe in.

How I keep costs down.

The first way I’m able to keep costs down is by using WordPress, which is a CMS (Content Management System). What’s important for you to know about that is it saves me the time of not having to write foundation code necessary for a website, and that in turn, saves you money. A benefit of having a WordPress site is that you can manage your content yourself should you want to. It’s quite user-friendly and basic photo and text changes require no knowledge of coding.

Secondly, I’m a one-gal shop. I’m the only one you will be dealing with. I do all the sketches, Photoshopping, designing, coding customization, everything it takes to get your website up. I don’t have a staff to pay, I don’t have an office space I rent, I own my own software and hardware so I don’t need to tack on fees to cover those types of expenses. The only additional costs aside from the actual designing would be related to domain and hosting fees, any special software you may need for your business, or printing costs, should your project require it.

What forms of payment do you take?
I accept cash, checks, PayPal, Square, and Venmo.
Do I offer payment plans?
Yes, payment plans will be made on an individual basis. I’m interested in earning what I feel my services are worth, not in the maximum amount I can get out of you. I will be fair in my charges and will have contracts in place to ensure myself and my clients are happy with the value of my work.
What is included?
With any type of work I do, web or print, the attention to detail that any job should have will be provided. Spell-checking, proper grammar, appropriate usage of particular fonts or design elements — everything a good designer should deliver will be. Slang will not be used unless it’s appropriate to your business type, and I’m an excellent copywriter. Even though you will be required to supply me with information about your business I will make everything read in a professional manner.
Limits on you. Yes, you.
Since I charge lower than most designers or companies out there it means my work time needs to be kept to a minimum whenever possible. This means I cannot be doing revision after revision after revision. I’m confident in my ability to come up with something you like the first or second time around and flip-flopping or indecisiveness will hold up the job and cost you more money. Of course you know your business best and I depend on the information you give me, but a certain amount of trust in my skills will be necessary to get your work done in a timely manner.
How long will a website take to build?

As of March 2015 wait time for websites is minimum 6 weeks. Print work varies by project. I will always try to get things done as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

About working remotely.
I’ve had clients who live out of town or for whatever reason prefer to do everything by email or phone. This is not an issue for me, however if it’s how you prefer to work with me I do ask that we have frequent communication as I cannot move forward with any major design decisions or changes without your approval.

LeslieAbout A Girl and Her Mac

I’m a web designer based in the great state of Texas and I focus on helping small businesses and non-profits get great websites. Many small business owners resort to using free site builders with templates because of their lack of funds. The end result is usually ugly and unorganized. I work with their budgets and offer payment plans so they can have another option. agirlandhermac@gmail.com

My apologies for any inconvenience but I am currently not signing on any new clients until May. If you can work with this please continue on to contact me for a quote. If you need something started sooner I may be able to refer you to another very creative and qualified designer for your project.
